First of all, the Lightning's no longer for sale. I'm gonna get this motherf****r running hard if it empties my goddamn wallet.
Yesterday, coming home from work, I noticed a lifter(s) tapping; and I look down at my oil pressure guage, sure nough, it read zero . Before I could pull over, pressure came back . My H2O temp., btw, was abnormally high also. This intermittent oil pressure scenario lasted all the way home (3 miles).
Okay, I know it's not the guage or the sender because of the lifter(s) (brand-fu**in new) knock and the elevated H2O temp., RIGHT? When oil pumps fail, they FAIL, as in not work, RIGHT?
Sooooooo, if I'm getting intermittent pressure what is most likely the culprit? I'm thinking cam bearing .
Owning this vehicle has been a test of my patience, that's for sure .
Thanks!!!!!!

sorry to say this, but after running for 3 miles with oil pressure bouncing off zero I'd be looking at a rebuild for ya.
do your compression/leakdown test. I hope it's not as ugly as it sounds it's gonna be. Hope for the best though. If good fortune is shining on you, you have a fubared oil sender, and a happy shortblock

missing tooth on the oil pump gear or camshaft could do that...

Yeah, I've got a new oil pump on the way. Pulling the pan's easier than the engine. I'll start there .

I'd start with cutting open that oil filter and looking for bearing material... Wasnt too long ago I had to do that, and boy, was it ever so full of copper. Havent driven the dumb ass car since.
