I use a 1/2 inch breaker bar connected to a 1/2" to 3/8" recucer going to one or two 3 inch extentions and the 12mm 12 point socket. I put the back tires on those metal yellow ramps and make sure the parking break is on, but the car is in gear. The right tools make the job tons easier. Its also a good idea to use a screw driver or what not to mark one side of the driveshaft and one side of the pinion flange so you put them back the same vibration free way they were.

alright thanks for the info guys. using an air wrench makes things real easy. but back to the problem. since last night, my car has been, making almost clunking noises. it is coming from the rearend. now we took the rearend cover off and the gears look fine everythings looks good. but on the diff. there is a big pin going through it, on one side it is smooth, on the other side it was cut up like it was cutting into the pinion gear. after closer inspection, the diff it not hitting the pinoin, now my neighbor who is good with a wrench, says i have some play is my gears possibly, he said i might need to shim the pinion gear again. then we moved the driveshaft around, and we got it back to how it was supposed to be, and before last night it was making noise in 1st and reverse, then when we got it on jacks in went to 1st to second.it was still making that clunking noise, then after we got everyting put back on it is now making the clunking noise in 3rd, 4th gets worse and 5 is scary bad. what the hell is wrong, im thinking it could be the driveshaft maybe. if anyone who is on the south side of san jose and wants to hear it PM me and i'll give you directions down here, but im stuck. any help would be appeciated.
