Can you pass smog with long tube headers on a 98 GT, since 2 of the cats would be missing? How do you go about getting around it?

Legally, there is no way to pass with long tubes. Of course there are always those friendly guys who can just turn their heads for a minute and say that it had an eo # on it! As for the no cats...you can get short h-pipes with cats...but it's kinda a waste of cash. Jack

I agree. Just find a garage, pay the $...it's pretty much the only way...cats are overrated

for someone to "clean pipe" it , it will cost about $500 W/ long tubes and cats, and smog pump...you'll pass easy. But there is no EO # for long tubes, so the tech will have to overlook it...most will never notice...just play dumb. But you can ask around if you wanted to. My '89 almost passed w/ long tubes, no cats, and no smog pump.

I don't even have that car anymore, but i had a buddy stick the sniffer in the pipe to check it out. I also had the timing at about 4* which needs to be overlooked also. And i also had a bottle of "guaranteed to pass" dumped in there. But all in all...if i had cats...even just 1 set...it would have passed real easy, w/ long tubes and no smog pump.
