head gasket? $60 in parts... 4 hours in labor. You might be able to do it yourself, otherwise don't be surprised if the bill starts at $500.

head gasket change requires: intake removal, head removal, header(s) removal, and damn near all of the engine front dress removal, drain and refill radiator.competent mechanic with air tools, 2 hours. shop time is about 4 hours though. no parts other than a new set of head gasket(s) required. I wouldn't be comfortable paying more than $500 for that. That's already roughly $100-$200/hr. depending on how long it takes them.

Contact your local Ford dealer. Our cars have a TSB or something for the head gaskets. This might be free because you are under 100,000 miles. Your car is a '95, so your car is close to 7 years old depending on when in 1995 it was made. (If I did my math right.)Call your dealer up tomorrow morning. This might be free to you. Jesse

Whatup POLO, I can tell you it will cost alot. I use to have a 95v6 a while ago, and I blew my heads as well. They took apart the whole engine, i'm talkin bout everthing. My shit was practically gutted. I was doin bout 100+ on the freeway for abot 2-3 miles one late night. The next day the car would shake hella crazy. I pulled over, popped the hood, and my coolant bottle was boilin' I tried to get it home and made it, but thick white smoke was comin out the exhaust. I checked everthing and found I blew the head gaskets. Coolant was leaking into my block and the engine was pumpin' coolant insted of oil. That's why the white smoke came through the rear. I think I paid bout $700 for it, and them lazy mechanics took a week and a half to fix it when I was told it would take 3 days. As soon as I picked it up, I went to dealerships lookin for a new stang. That's how I got my current baby Just look at her....ahhhhhhhhhh

Sounds like you have the right idea. $950 isn't too bad of a price. Its pretty common for those 3.8L V6's to blow head gaskets. Ford had a recall on some cars. You may want to double check to see if its covered under the recall or not.

Found this one under TSB's:Technical Service Bulletins Summary Make: FORD Model: MUSTANG Year: 1995 Service Bulletin Number: 00M10 Bulletin Sequence Number: 138
Summary Description: SUBJECT REGARDING OWNER NOTIFICATION PROGRAM SUPPLEMENT #1 3.8L ENGINE HEAD GASKETS. *TT On edit: This sounds exactly like oyur problem. Make: FORD Model: MUSTANG Year: 1995 Service Bulletin Number: 00M10S2 Bulletin Sequence Number: 164 Summary Description: SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE HEAD GASKET(S). THIS CONDITION MAY RESULT IN ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE, WHICH, IF NOT DETECTED, CAN CAUSE ENGINE OVERHEATING. *TT There are other TSB's that mention head gaskets as well. Don't beleive the dealer if they say there are no TSB's for Head Gaskets.
