The problem with stroking a 4.6 is the "Numbers" suffer..The rod ratio gets lower and the wrist pin ends up in the oil ring groove,The counterweights on the crank must be turned down to prevent the piston from hitting the crank on btdc. making a expensive heavy metal balance job necessaryThe big resleeve 3.70 bore cobra block combined with a solid copper head gasket(coolant leaks) raise more durability issues. After looking at the options..I wanted a engine i could beat on and live. That is where the 5.4 came in..Al

oooooooo thats bad. I wanted to do something like that, 5.4 DOHC in a 96-98 GT, but ended up ordering a new cobra, so thats on the back burner for a long time. Nice setup though, i like the combo!!!

No smog test in Fla.However with the stock cats bavk on i see no reason it wouldn't pass.we have spent a lot of time on the tune(chip)and it averages 18-21 mpg..Al

As long as it has all the smog hook-ups and the intake and all that "looks" like a stock Cobra engine, I doubt Joe Shmoe at the corner garage is going to notice the larger engine. I have yet to have a smog mechanic notice my 351W
