So I'm posting this before I get it checked at a shop. in case any 1 has had this happen to them or know what's wrong, so that maybe I could fix it myself and b cheaper. But any way my steering wheel seems loose, while I'm driving slow speed or high speed and the f*cked up roads around here knock my car around I have to hold the wheel tight in order not to hit any1 on the side of me that's how loose it feels. Any 1 have any idea what it cud be? Just got wheels balanced not sure if I need an alignment if thatll fix it? [ October 11, 2011, 04:00 PM: Message edited by: stangrus95 ]

check inner and outer tie rods for play, check ball joints for play, make sure all bolts are tight on the suspension/wheels, check for wear on the rag joint (above rack and pinion)
thats all i can think of right now, good luck

Check your front control arms. That's what mine ended up being. It was loose steering but never to the point I couldn't control it.

Best way to check the steering is to have the car off and on the ground, have another person move the steering back and forth just so it barely moves the tires and look for any movement.

The rack and pinion bolts them selves can either be loose.and or bushings to spongy by now!!!! Outer tie rods are more than likely ready to break.... Start from the rag-joint and work your way down. The outer tie rods.the inner tie rods.the rack-n-pinion. Depending how low the car is. Bump steer kit usually needed. Alignment can be outta one or more areas..... The ball-joints last quite a while. ...Most of the local big-o will do a "free inspection." keep me posted.
