Im planning on buying a TFS engine top end kit summit p/n tfs-k514-350-370. Where should i go to get this installed and about how much would it cost to install? Also, my engine is at 130+k so, i may be looking into a rebuild, if the costs are good(if not then a shortblock). Or even a rebuild during the installation of the kit?
I dunno, my heads gonna explode, just trying to draw up figures so when i hit a shop, im not totally clueless.
Or if anyone can do this for me, send a pm with asking amount.

It would help out if we knew where you lived so we could tell you of a machine shop near by....

$200 is cheap for a gear install. Call Rearend Specialities and see what their quote is..you'll be happy with $200.
Check with "Haulnassmaro", he does the boards gears in the South Bay...I've got the North Bay covered.

GNJ motorsports in milpitas for everything. Greg will do it all at a great price, and don't worry about your motor taking a shit. 130,000 is just being broken in for a 5.0

hmm i would love to do it myself, thing is i rally have no tools at all for any top end work
$200 not including parts is a decent quote for installing a set of 3:73s damn.

Capital Automotive & Performance is my shop of choice.
And yes, 24lbs injectors will be fine. [ March 14, 2004, 08:35 PM: Message edited by: The Nick ]

Whats a good quote? Need to know what to look for when i hcome into a shop.
Also, should i even run Underdrive pulleys when i get the top end kit put on? Will the water pump flow enough with an UD pulley.

Ok the waterpump will flow fine with UD pullies and 24's will be more than enough. 19's are still plenty for HCI. Did you stop by and talk to Greg. if you have him do all the work he shouldn't chrage you all too much. He'll probably need the car for at least a couple days though

purple notch just made a post about side jobs because he has free time. im sure he can do that top end swap for a good price.
i would have haulinassmaro or johnb, or 5.0 #4 87 t-top do the gear swap. any of them can do those 8.8s blindfolded.
just my personal preference....i would replace the timing chain with 130k miles. i noticed a ton of slop in my 88's chain at 95k miles. i replaced it and the oil pressure went up, and the motor revved better in general. but if you do that, you might as well change the cam. it never ends
