Here's the story. Im going to the drag strip in two weeks(first time) I would like to get some tips on how to launch my car. Specifically on how to do it with a 100-150hp shot of Nitrous(NX Wet) The Nitrous is activated with a WOT throttle switch. Is it possible to launch my car on the bottle? Is that a good idea? Here are my mods:1988 Mustang 5.0 STOCK REPLACEMENT CLUTCH 26 x 10.5 ET STREETS TFS Street Heat Intake C80E Heads(53.5cc)Ported & Polished FMS E303 Cam 70mm Accufab TB C&L 76mm MAF B&M Ripper Shifter MAC Equal Length Headers Off Road H-Pipe 2 Chamber Flowmasters FMS Aluminum Driveshaft FMS 3.73 Gears Walbro 255 Fuel Pump FMS 24lb Injectors BBK AFPR/gauge Southside Lift Bars BBK Subframe Connectors 26 x 10.5 ET Streets NX 35-150 Shot Nitrous 260rwhp 13* Timing

do it man! only thing is you might want to look into a window switch for safety, otherwise maybe keep the spray for 2nd and beyond.leaving on the spray can easily result in a bog depending on how you launch, and that can equal a N20 backfire at best, or some blown piston(s). A window switch should protect you from that, if the RPM's drop too far, the N20 will shut off. have fun!

Hit that jug off the line. I would heat up the tires really good and then dump the clutch off the line at like 3000. It should hook and go Albert

You stock replacement clutch isn't going to like that n2o with those ET streets. I'm running a 100 shot in my car and have use ET streets several times. Even with a aftermarket it would start to slip after about 3 passes or so.As far as launching on the juice (if you decide to do it), I have found that 4500 to 5000 rpm range is the best place to side ste the clutch. No bog and no backfire. But on some occasions a little bit of tire spin. Also keep in mind that your stock rearend isn't going to hold up very long to that kind of launch. This doesn't mean that it will break the first time out, but it will let go after contiuded abuse, (everything does ). Anyway, good luck bro. Be sure to post again before you go out. I'll most likely see ya out there. Later, Drew

I agree with the statement above. Bring the rpms up a little, but dont worry about a bog, cause the torque of the nitrous will take care of any bog problems.... If your car hooks well, it will probably pick up a tenth or 2 in 60 ft. more if you hook great. Any time you can pick up 60ft time, your et will greatly increase. Launching with the nitrous is the only way to do it, but it also is hard on clutches, drivelines, and rearends. I leave at 7000rpms, with transbrake and nitrous, and it is a ride! 12 bolt still holding up after 5 years of serious abuse. 1.34 60fts. TRY IT, YOU WILL LOVE IT

Hey Yellow94GT, do you race at the sacramento raceway? I think I met you before. Do you have 17x10.5 rims on the back? And I think I remember you saying that you weren't a big fan of nitrous because it is inconsistant? Was that you???

I met you a long time ago... last season at the track. You were with a few of your friends, and I was with a few of my friends. We had the same car, except mine was lazer red but same rims and all. Are you going out to the track tonight? If so, I'll probably see you there.

LOL.........another anti-nitrous guys joins the team. When ya can't beat 'em...ya join 'em huh??? Just launch it like normal. If you have enough gear, you will be launching around 2800 anyway. Lift on your shifts though. Jet it low to start off w/ to be safe. You should be fine driving like you usually do at the track.
