Okay, just curious. After driving my '95 5.0 for a total of about an hour (to the store and then back home) my temp gauge will be up about half way on the stock gauge.
Yesterday I decided to pop the hood, the prop rod was so hot I could barely hold on to it long enough get the hood up. Intake is extremely hot, etc..
Is this normal for these cars? Because my '86 never ran this hot at all.
Thanks.

It's always seemed a little warm, but it's just been the last week or so that it's got to the point where I can't touch prop-rod without fear my hand will melt off. lol

Check the coolant level after the engine has cooled off.

a overheating hood prop might mean that there are bad main bearings. double check your diff fluid.

I would check the brake & power steering fluid first .

Ha ha..Ha ha..Funny.
The reason I mentioned the prop-rod, the engine is running so hot that it is heating the engine bay up to the point the prop-rod is hot.
All the fluids check out fine, even the headlight fluid. [ August 14, 2007, 09:03 PM: Message edited by: MustangNate ]
