I'm looking for a good block to throw my 347 stroker kit in and I know that the older blocks are stronger.....so my question is "are the older blocks 1 or 2 piece rear main seal??? my stroker kit is fir a 2 piece.....

Sometimes on the stoker cranks you will need to have the machine shop remove the lil lip that the crank has if it its for a 1pc rear seal.If your crank has the lil lip and your gonna use it on the older 2pc it will need to be cut down..

Another FYI, '73-'76 blocks have a slightly taller deck height than pre-'73 and post-'76 blocks. The '73-'76 blocks have an 8.229" height where all other 302's have an 8.206" height. They did that to lower compression. You'll probably want to have the machine shop check how far down in the hole the piston is and maybe deck the block.
Here's a listing of block casting numbers and deck heights. http://www.cartechbooks.com/cartech/contentfiles/13002.pdf [ September 15, 2010, 01:51 AM: Message edited by: wilit ]
