Hello guys. Can anyone tell me the range on how fast you can go with 3.73 gears (top end freeway)? Basically a stock engine. Seems like my tranny doesnt know to stay in 3 or 4th when the pedal is all the way down. [ April 10, 2005, 11:08 AM: Message edited by: mikeP ]

Do you mean the tranny downshifts over 3500-4000 RPM's is over drive? I think all AOD's do it, unless you get a shift kit.

seems like my tranny doesnt want to kick into overdrive when the pedal is pressed all the way down and my rpms jump from like 5-6 and wont lower. i have to like control my pedal play to make overdrive kick in and keep my rpm down. so i thought it might be my gears restricting my top end speed or conflicting some how.

WOT stands for wide open throttle. The aod will downshift out of 4th over a certain RPM, and over rev 3rd...then wont shift back up unless you get off the throttle. A shift kit will hold it in overdrive so you wont have to worry about it downshifting.

And then the Overdrive band will burn up. Trust me.
There is a reason Ford would not let it stay in OD at WOT. Shift kit is great, but fulll throttle top-end charge will just kill a stock AOD.
