I want to get some gauges for my cobra to monitor coolant temp and oil pressure, i was looking on american muscle and some say mechanical or electric. So my question is what kind do i need to buy? [ 2014-06-13, 10:06 PM: Message edited by: 9cobrasvt8 ]

That only refers to the type of sending unit the gauges use. I prefer electric.

a mechanical oil or fuel pressure gauge will have a rubber tube containing pressurized (and hot) engine oil directly to the back of the gauge inside your car.
an electrical gauge will isolate those fluids to the engine bay and only run a single wire from the sensor/sending unit to the back of the gauge.
I would never install a mechanical gauge inside a car I cared about even a little. Too big of a risk if something goes wrong with the gauge or fluid line.
