I just swapped a bad AOD for a good one. When I pulled out the gear that was new when the last AOD went in 3k miles ago the gears were chewed up. I know it's a white 23 tooth but my local Ford doesn't know their product well so I would like to make their job easier, SO I CAN GET MY GEAR and just give them a part number.
Any help on Ford's part number for a white 23 tooth gear?
Thanks everyone

John, I had the drive gear swapped to an earlier model. My speedo was tested on the dyno 2 weeks ago and found to be DEAD ON
I have the gear in hand, just need to replace it. Does Ford have them or do I have to go through 5.0?
BTW, ignore the call back sir, I fixed my "issue"

Part number by chance? The parts debt I spoke with today had their heads up their asses and couldn't get me the one I need. All they would say is we have the white one that has 17 teeth. Then just pause........... I NEED ONE WITH 23 TEETH
They were supposed to call me back when they located one because I was sick of being on hold for 15 minutes and never called....

23 Tooth LRS-17271J
isn't the 17271J part of that the ford part #?
I also remember reading that some guys get a speedo gear from jeep/chrysler that is correct for the 4.10 gears, maybe its a 25 tooth?
but if the 23t was correct for you on the dyno then get that

No, it's deffinitely the 23 tooth. I got that information from a link posted here when I had done the gear swap and know it's accurate after the dyno.
BUT, BINGO, you are right. I got the gear from my local Dodge dealership. I'll be stopping by there on my way home this morning.

I have the same idiot from yesterday on the phone now. He is telling me that Ford does not make any gears with more than 21 teeth. Need to run to Chrysler or is this guy full of @#%#?
Thanks again for your time!

The 23 tooth is NOT a ford part. It is a jeep part. That is why they don't last long. That is all 5.0Resto and others sell. So just go to any Dodge, Jeep or Chrysler dealer and ask for this part number.

Here is a complete chart on my site below. I personally swithed to the 6 tooth drive gear for better support of low ratios in my T5, see chart.

Umm, DUHHHHH. Already posted above in my link. So if it were a ford part it would last longer
The gears do not last long BECAUSE there are so many teeth so they have to be real thin. THAT'S THE REASON they do not last long, not because they are a jeep part.....

those are all 5-speed driven gears.
an aod has a different pitch to the gear .
the 23 tooth is most you can get,and is the pitch for a t5, it won't last long cuz it won't mesh properly.if you want it to read correct, you need to replace the output shaft w/an older output shaft cuz the drive gear is machined onto the output shaft.
it's an 8 tooth drive i think in an aod.
you would need like a 6t drive , and a 18 tooth driven to work correctly on a stock sized tire.
