well are you on empty when you see this problem or does it happen when you on a full tank of gas
and if you change to a bigger pump it wont hurt the car

The only thing that lubricates the fuel pump is.....guess what....fuel. The pump is essentially a small turbine type of hydraulic unit that is coupled to a magnet motor (voltage affects the efficiency of the motor). When you run your tank completely dry there will be cycle lapses of fuel that will run through the pump (or the pump will be completely run dry). In any case you wil basically be running "metal on metal" and the pump will heat up which will eventually cause it to seize or at least stick (even with the proper voltage). Once it starts doing this (yes it is a downward spiral) there is no way to fix the problem with the pump (unless you open it up and replace the gear/turbines in there, but that will be harder then to simply replace the pump).
So the general rule is to not run near empty or on an empty tank as you will heat up the fuel pump and causing premature wear and or siezure. Getting back to the other part of your question..will the 255lph tank hurt anything...nope...generally it will not hurt especially if you have mods that require the extra fuel volume.
