If you are going with aluminum , Trickflow 170's are perfect , Afr 165's (smog legal), RHS 180's have room for future upgrades . There's alot to choose from out there, if building a street/strip orientated car that's not stroked I wouldn't go anything larger than 185's . Also don't forget to consider combustion chamber size as it will determine your compression ratio. And also combustion chamber size can affect your piston to valve clearance depending on your cam.

Me personally on a 331 I'd run Air Flow Research 185cc with 60cc combustion chambers part# Afr-1492 for a supercharged application and for Naturally Aspirated I'd go with the 185's in a 58cc combustion chamber part#Afr-1381 to add a little compression. Or the RHS 180 Elite series. On a stroked 302 you'd see massive power gains from such cylinder heads.

if youre planning on going with a 331 in the future but currently need them on a 302, then the trickflow 170's or AFR185's would do you well. Id even consider the TFS 190's (though they might be "too big"). Im not sure if any piston mods need to be done though since im not entirely familiar with the small blocks.

i got the afr 185's part #1383 72cc and got them fully ported and are currently on my 306 and works great also gonna throw them on my 363 when its all paid off

anything with a 2.02 intake valve i beleve wont fit on a stock 302 with a cam due to the piston to valve clearance, pistons need to be notched so they have clearance. you are safe running a 1.90-1.94 valve i believe for stock bottom end with out clearance issues

I think trick flow twisted wedge 2.02 will fit but with any head any valve size it's Always! Important to check piston to valve clearance .....btw there are some good deals on here in the forsale section can't go wrong with edelbrock,Holley, afr, trick flow u will see an advantage with any of those heads compared to stock

what year is the engine? if it is an 86 block you can't run those heads. because of piston to valve clearence

Yeah I know I ran into this problem when I did the rebuilt I wanted a e cam,that's why i swapped pistons and heads.
