Whats the easiest way of taping the oil pan.. or can i just drill it and put some grease on the drill to catch the metal shavings.

You need to get yourself a 5/8" punch. Use this to punch a hole into the pan. Than use the tap packed with grease to tap the hole. Make sure the tap goes in straight.
