well i put a new balancer in the cobra because the old one was real worn, i was also doin other stuff so the distributor was out as well i get the whole car back together and the thing will not time, i found tdc and its on 0 on the balancer, then wel i set it to 14* it runs like shit and will die (yes the spout is out), i can turn the timing way down and it runs just fine, but it says im runnin negative timing, which isnt right, so my question is what the hell is wrong

What I'd do is put a degree wheel on the thing & find true TDC on the #1 using a piston stop. Then install the balancer & see what mark it's on. Summit sells timing tape for like $5. I did the exact same procedure on my TT stang as I used an older style balancer with the timing marks on the wrong side.

You DID have the timing light lead on the #1 wire, right? I only ask cuz I've done it too..

What kind of balancer did you up on it? just curious...
