Hey all,
I posted here a while ago about a S/C mustang, but it didn't work out and I'm still carless, heh.
I am thinking about buying a 1999/2000 GT with decent miles (under 70k hopefully) for around $9,000-10,000, and then doing a motor swap for a built motor, or building the stock block. I know there are some places here in the Bay Area where that would be possible, but I don't remember much else. Can someone tell me what my options are? I would like to stay under $14,000 for the "project" if possible, so that allows $4-5,000 for whatever work I need done + install. I would like to be making a good bit more horesepower than the stock GT motor.
Thank you all!

Reading my post, I am not sure I made myself clear..
Basically, I want a good bit more power than the 260 the regular GT motor provides. So, even if the motor itself is in good shape, I would like it to be built up, or exchanged for another, more powerful, built motor.
What are my options and price ranges?
I am a newb when it comes to this stuff, so my terminology may be a bit off.

Nah, no bottle.. want all around good power without the potential pitfalls of a supercharger (my original plan was to Kenne Bell the same kind of GT, but I think a built/bigger/better N/A motor would be more fun/reliable/interesting/possibly cheaper).

You could get a fox body stang and do a stroker motor with top end, maybe even have enough left for a blower and go very very very fast for that kind of money. That is if you like fox's. Whatever you do have fun!

Thanks for the replies and the PM..
I am only considering a 1999-2001 GT under $10,000.
Which place around here is the best? Apex? HCI? Big Dog?
What kind of power can I get out of a stock GT block? If that isn't enough to get me to around 350 RWHP, then what's my next best option? Can I sell the block to the shop if they put in a new one?
Thanks../
