I am planning on getting a new motor but I don’t know what way to go should I go with a set of gt40p heads with a b cam or should I go with AFR’s 165 with an X cam right know I don’t have to worry about smog but I don’t know how long it will last so would it still pass smog with the AFR’s and that cam I plan on getting it tuned as soon as possible thanks for any info

Do tou care about makng power? The AFR's will absolutely kill the GT40p combo, even w/ a stock cam (which I recommend for a daily driver w/1.7 rockers.) Read this--> http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2003/06/afrinstall/index.shtml

I do wont the power the car’s not a daily driver with the AFR heads witch cam could I run and still be smog legal and witch heads should i run the Afr's or the trick flow heads i read the with a 500 so lift cam the tfs out flow the AFR's but witch ones make more power thanks casey [ January 27, 2005, 02:05 PM: Message edited by: Cstang50 ]

AFR 165s and tfs stage 1 cam for a good budget cam. I had that combo before i went to a custom cam, it made good power

AFR 165s and 185s are smog legal. My 347 with 185s passes with no problems. Not even close.

Stock cam retarded 4 degrees w/ 1.7 rockers. You get the power w/out the idle issues.
