The plug should be closest to the inner fenderwell.

first off my plugs are saying lean. also in the mornings when i leave if i try to stay at like 2 grand it will start sputtering. then when i shift to second without keeping the rpms to about 4 it will sputter really bad and often ill get a backfire in the intake. i have had this problem for a while and it gets really irritating. i cant keep a steady rpm without it sputtering. sorry for the long post.

Check your timming, EGR components...Those could be the reason for your intake backfire...
Have you ran the diagnostic codes at all?....

If you're running lean I would retard the timming back to 10 degrees again...Advancing your timming at 14* wont do anything if you're detonating...
As far as the EGR components, that means the EGR valve, EGR position sensor, EVR solnoid and make sure the vacuum is good....

could all the sputtering be a fuel system problem, just thought I'd throw that out there
