Originally posted by drakiel: [QB] I've got a 2000 Lightning with about 30k miles on it that just recently started giving me what sounds to me like belt noise, but I wanted to get your guys (and gals) opinions on how I should go about troubleshooting/fixing this. The engine runs fine but at idle I've got a constant, rhythmic high pitched screeching noise that gets higher pitched when I rev up until about 2.5k RPM then it either goes away or the engine is so damn loud I can't hear it anymore... After driving it for 15-20 minutes I notice that it goes away again until I fire up the truck later on. Any ideas/suggestions would be well appreciated. -Jason [/QB]
what mods do you have? My friend's lightning with a TB on it whistles only at a certain RPM, do you think this may be it?

It could be the blower belt idler pully(s). I've heard of a few of those going out on the Gen2 Lightings. You could take off the blower belt to see if it goes away.
