i had the exact same problem. John is right, I had to give it up for the rod knock. A new longblock and I was good to go [patriot]

well hopefully its something small.

does it matter if the H is clamped or welded? i dont get it.

he was prolly thinking that noise that you heard was an exhaust leak...
did you take it to john yet?

the second time my engine went out on my 00 gt, i had no oil in the car, cause i though ford had done my service but they didn't, so yea my engine went out.

Take a good, hard look at a diagram of a 4.6...lemme know where the rocker's are. [Wink]

How about doing a oil change...and cut the oil filter open. Let us know what ya got...

ok skip the rockers then lol..thats jus what someone told me.

i changed the oil..put FRESH oil in with new filter..started the car up AND...

TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK [Mad]

oh and replaced the plugs as well! ticking is STILL there!

Just to take the accessory system out of the mix...pull the belt and start the car. If it is still there, you have a rod knock (if it is continuous and with the engine rotation). If it is varied, it could be the chain self-adjusters, the balancer, or a valvetrain issue.

ok heres the deal...

when car is idle..cant really hear it but its there..when givin gas tick gets LOUD! ill try the removing the belt in a minute.
