My friend is running no tensioner or ac but left the ac pulley on the car is this causing any problems. Do you need the tensioner, he muscled the belt on.

Yeah i would think you need a tensioner unless you can get the belt on with one of the pulleys loose like the smog pump or ac and then force the ac over to take up the slack in the belt and then tighten down the accesory

the problem may come later belts do stretch in time or it could be slip when accelerating
