how do i take my timing cover off when my harmonic balancer is off?

Well take out all the bolts along with the water pump. Sometimes you need to smack it with a rubber mallet CAREFULLY to crack the seal. Once you get a gap between the cover and motor carefully pry the cover off the dowels

there are also 4 bolts that go through the oil pan into the timing cover, those need to come off as well
