Hey guys, I've taken your advice and ordered serveral things that should quicken up my Cobra a bit. Steeda Underdrive Pullies, a Pro 5.0 shift kit, and a Steeda 4.6L Timing adjuster .

My question is this-When I get the Timing Adjuster put on, what degree should I put it at? I see that online, Steeda suggests from 14 to 16 degrees for 96-98 GTs/Cobras that are naturally aspirated (Mine is a '98, no mods except intake and the pullies). I just talked with one of their representatives about it, and he felt I should put it at around 13 degrees...

Any suggestions you guys have as to what to put it at? And what would be the negative effects of bumping it up higher (16 degrees) vs. lower (12 degrees)?

Also-how much HP do you think I will gain from the Timing adjustment at each degree (12 vs. 16, for example).

Thanks for your help guys!

Brad

With the 91 octane you'll find at most stations 14-15* is the max I'd recommend!!!

We've installed the timing adjuster on many 4.6s and have found that the most timing we could run with our bad gas here is 12, maybe 13 degrees. Some cars would only accept 11 degrees, which doesn't even make it worth while. Your mileage may vary...

I'm in trouble then!!!! I've been running mine @ 14*. I haven't heard any pinging and I'm sure I'd notice bonafide detonation . Yeah 1* over stock isn't worth $169 [patriot] .

I have my timing set at 14 with no problems. The differencs between 14 and 16 is very minimal I dyno'd at 14 for 2 pulls and 1 pull at 16 it was only 2rwhp.

Thanks for the help, guys. This site is a great resource for advice from guys like you who know what they are talking about-I love it [worship] ! Looks like I'll set it @ 13 to start out...If I have any problems from there, i'll lower it. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
