Since the burnout to balance tires thread is locked I wanted to ad my thoughts on this. When Dean-93 did his burnout it is possible that the tire spun on the rim a little and changed the balance.
This is something that we road racers deal with a lot. I am sure you have seen drag wheels with screws through the wheels to hold the tire from spinning on the wheel.
So dean-93 you are probably not imagining that your car rolls down the road smoother. If you used soap and water to ease the mounting process it would make it easier for the tire to spin on the wheel.
Here is a 6 page thread on tire balance on road race cars. On about page 3 they start talking about the tires spinning on the wheels. I do not balance my tires on my race car for this reason. I do not let my tire guy use lubricant to mount the tire as it will make the tire spin on the wheel easier and the moisture inside the tire builds more pressure faster. http://nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=36219 [ November 17, 2012, 09:15 PM: Message edited by: 4IDFOX ]

You are actually speaking the truth. FYI the Bugatti deals with tire spin and the tire rotating around the rim at top speed and braking I believe. Also when I mount tires at work we actually "lube" up the beads to not rip the sidewall and make it mount easier. Also when we do flats we don't rebalance the tire we mark the stem and weights with chalk on the corresponding position on the tire then when we remount we lube it of course mount and if you haven't already matched the spots you marked you push in both beads and you can easily rotate the tire around the wheel. So dean-93 and you are not crazy and anybody who thinks different is a the crazy one

And also look up road force balancing. We rarely do it but a big drum pushes on the wheel and finds "out of round" spots so of the rim and tire are hard to balance you road force it an the balancer identifies 2 spots, 1 on the rim and 1 on the tire and you go and rotate the tire to the spot the machine said matches the rim. Just simple stuff

Simple enough to figure out. Make a mark on your tire corresponding with the valve stem. If it moves, you have an issue.
