I know they were used on boss 302's and early 70's 429 cars. How can you tell them apart from other steel wheels. I just picked up some steel wheels with tires and I believe they might be early wheels. I know they don't have the windows on the center. Where would the ford part number be? The person I got the wheels from said they were off a wrecked 71 Mach 1.

Are these the 15 inch steelies that came with dogdish hubcaps? Or are you talking Magnum 500's?
I think you could get these wheels on Thunderbird and Lincoln also. I always wanted a set for my 71 Torino.
Usually there is some type of stamped number on the reverse, or on the recess where the Schrader valve is.

Dog dish wheels, they only came on 429 torinos, 429 mustangs and boss mustangs. 15x6.5's came on the thunderbird and other torinos from what I read and was told.
