What do you consider "fast"

They are the best bang for the buck out there and you can go fast on a budget.....

Not sure what you mean???

That will depend upon the Combustion chamber size of the EDL heads that you will be using, the smaller the combustion chamber size the higher the compression ratio will be and vice versa.

If the heads are 60cc then u need to figure out what kind of pistons are in the motor..a stock shortblock with edelbrock heads and a custom cam should be able to hit 300+hp ...with some compression it should make a lil more..

.30 over isn't a major difference unless you raise the compression or build a stroker motor..stock 5.0s are 9:1 or 9.5:1..you need to raise the compression to at least 10:1 to see a gain from a 306..

Compression ratio of 87-92 HO roller motor is 9.0:1-9.2:1 depending on chamber spec which varies.

The 5.0 you speak of is a non HO motor.

Also most cheap oversized replacement pistons have larger cc reliefs and even different compression height, along with the larger bore just drops the compression more and more which is why it is hard to go wrong with the ring and bearing jobs on stock TRW slugs, unless you go to a better aftermarket piston such as JE, Diamond and even JEs line of SRP pistons.

I cant stand this "306 hype" its a buncha bullshit unless you build a nice lil 306 with good pistons and balance job which becomes a null point since 100 bux more gets you 20-45 more cubes....
