I want to get gt40 heads what's the best year to get the heads frm an how can I tell what I'm looking for thx.

The earlier the better. Seems like of the ones I've seen GT40's came on 95 or earlier. Later models typically wound up with gt40p heads. 3 lines on the front are gt40's 4 lines on the front are gt40p. GT40p also have oddly angled spark plugs. GT40's are jut like the standard e7 heads

You said gt40s are the same as far as set up but better performance right? After porting valve job an so on?

96 was the first year of the 5.0 in Explorers
The GT40 heads can be found in 96 and early 97's.
The GT40 heads will have 3 vertical lines on the front and rear face of the heads. will also have raised "GT40" next to #1 spark plug at base of head.
GT40"P" heads will have 4 vertical lines and will have raised "GT40P" lettering next to #1 spark plug at base of head
