What type of water pump? Reverse rotation or standard? Using the wrong type of pump will do it.

I would check if the belt is on correct and like other guy said. Water pump direction. Check thermostat easy and cheap to replace.

Make sure fan rotation is right for its.location. i bought a car a few months ago with the fan on the engine side of radiator wired in as a pusher insetad of puller. Once you.started driving it overheated because the fan was esentially blocking the radiator above 10mph.
