I think my oil pump is taking a crap. Fucken Kragen shit. Well I have a 306 with full bolt ons to begin with and I checked my oil pressure and on idle with normal operating temperature its like at 15 and at 2k RPM its at 30 at the most. And I know the specs are 40-60 psi. Wat else could cause my oil pressure to drop so much? Wat are some things I should look for now. since I already checked the pressure directly?

I thought My oil pressure was dropping too. i got some new gauges and a new sending unit and it solved my problem. My pressure was fine. My stock gauges were fucked up though...

My autometer say 25lbs at idle when warm, and about 45lbs at 2k. I disconnected my stock gauge, and it still bounces around on the dash, factory guages are garbage.

Oil pressure is oil pressure. So long as you have some, that's fine. I would hope to get at least 20 lbs or so out of an older 5.0. If the clearances are opened way up in a worn out motor, then the pressure is going to be low. Otherwise, the extra pressure of a high pressure pump is unnecessary parasitic drag on the motor.

Well I do have an autometer gauge on it and it reads fine but its too low. The motor just got freshened up by JohnB. New cam, all new bearings, etc... And I've only put about 800 miles on the car. the motor makes a lot of noise to from the valve train. I don't know if its just the way it is or it lacks from lubrication thus causing the noise.

Did you ever change all the lifters and do a correct valve lash?

How did you cut it open? Sometimes you can contaminate the filter if you don't use the proper tool. So the metal you could be seeing might be from when you cut it
open.

Just because the pump came from Kragen doesn't make it junk, they sell Melling pumps and other quality brands. Your basing the whole problem on the pump itself, chances are you had a problem somewhere else and that's why you lost pressure. You could also have crap in the oil pump pickup too, I've found small bits of RTV in the pickup screen and it was enough to really drop the pressure.
