Well next year.. or when ever I get back to working full time, ill be in the market for some boost. Of course I could go with a supercharger, its my first thought anyways, but I rarely see turbo 5.0s around here and I LOVE being a bit different. Drivablity wise, can a turbo be reliable? Im thinking in the range of 8-10lbs. I know they are more expensive but i can save a bit longer if I need to. Whats your input? Thanks!!

IIRC there are no new smog legal turbos. If you want a smog legal one I would think you would have to buy used or your SOL. Unless smogs not an issue [Wink]

Off topic - I still haven't wet sanded my grill [Embarrassed] School keeps me hella busy. But I'll be painting it for sure in the beg of sept sometime.

Yea smog legality is a problem at the moment, but if your not worried about it , imo turbos are a great way of adding horsepower, mainly because you dont constantly have to be on boost, and the fact that you are getting boost from the exhaust gasses (instead of a belt ) its almost like getting free power.. other than the steep purchase price haha also a downside is that you will probably be paying a little more for a tune.. and you gotta mess with the exhaust ( you wanted to anyways [Smile]

Yes they can be reliable but be prepared to spend a lot of money to get into a good kit. I went high 10's on low boost 91octane and I daily drive the car.

What compression ratio are you running? if its around 10:1 you can still run boost. just lower and a little more carefully [Smile]

It's around 9.7/9.8.. Not crazy high but a little over stock. The most was built with nitrous on my mind, but are slowing making my way towards boost. Of course.. after my fun with nitrous has run out.

Yessir they are DSS. That would be fun to run both, but my wallet's on E. Nitrous is going to be my power adder for now, cheap and fun! Plus, people tend to think twice when your purging on them..
