Doing my 5 lug conversion tom, I've been reading a lot on the conversion, but I can't seem to get a straight up answer when it comes to .... How much gear oil do I need? What brand and what weight? Also how much brake fluid? What brand, and what weight? Its a 5lug conversion, with disc brakes all around. Sn95 parts, and fox length axles. Pls any info or recommendations will help.

I'm pretty sure that you dont want to use synthetic. I was advised NOT to use the synthetic and just go with Lucas' 75w-90 with a friction additive. And off the top of my head I think its 3.75 pints (1 8/9 qts). Just Have your car level and keep pumping fluid in till it starts pouring out the fill hole.

Yea I believe if you use synthetic with your basic stock trac loc it will actually damage the clutches if I'm not mistaken but I'm not a true blue expert lol. Just stick with your basic 75w-90, get the friction additive and you should be good to go

Partially right. Ford calls for synthetic only on all models from 1999 and on. Synthetic won't harm the clutches at all. Also, from 1999 and on, 75w140 is recommended.

I did not know that. Guess you learn something new everyday lol. I was told not to use synthetic on my 89' and that I should use basic gear oil with the friction additive. Was I told false information about the synthetic having a negative effect on the diff??

In the 15+ years I've built 8.8's and various other rear ends, I haven't ever seen synthetic cause problems other than leaking with old seals. Ford went to synthetic only in the 90's because of it's low wear properties, anti-foaming, and it's ability to dissipate heat faster.
