i have a bone stock 89 5.0 5spd and recently it was surging , minor, but the volts were simultanious<sp with the surge. battery volts dropp and batt light came on now no more surge so bing i assume its an alternator-diode failure can cause a surge- but now changed the alt and still same problem. this is the two bolt alt style, not plug in any info appr. [patriot]

I would say you're alternator is not charging.....

There is a fuseable link in the wire that goes from the alt to the starter solenoid if this fuseable link burns out your alt will not charge. sorry im not in front of a wiring diagram but if you pick up the manual it should show which wire it is. lmk if you need more help

the white and black one i think is the fuse link?
