I've posted before, but never get any great results. This car sits in my garage and every summer I get a hair to fix it. It's going to a professional in a week or so, but I'd like one last shot at it of possible. The issue:

Vibration which follows the idle speed. It happends in and out of gear. Here is what I've replaced since owning the car:
Harmonic balancer (was bad, but new one didn't fix the issue)
Flywheel (Brand new, correctly torqued) I had the old one resurfaced, when that didn't fix it, I ripped everything out and put in a new one.
Drivesharft has been professionaly balanced (but that wasn't it anyway because it doesn't have to be in gear to feel ther shake.
New King Cobra clutch, pilot bearing, throwout bearing and T-5 (Built at Modern Driveline) Timing is perfect, tune was done.

Here is what I think it may be:
Is it possible to have a crank out of balance, but still run weel enough to put 50 miles on at all speed (100+ included) and not blow the motor up?

Could I have bent the crank or pilot bushing while installing the tranny? I don't think so, but maybe someone has seen it.

Any guesses?

Sorry for the long post, but I'll let you know what Alan at Precision Auto in San Bruno tells me in a couple of weeks.

I had a clutch fan give me headaches for about 6 months one time.

It is really easy to pull the clutch fan off and put the pulley back on and start it up real quick to see if it vibrates. You wouldnt believe the vibration this fan caused. The vortech blower belt had blown off at speed once and knocked the shit out of the clutch fan and I didnt even realize it.

Does it vibrate at a stand still in neutral? Could be a shoddy rebuild with some cheap oh badger pistons or someone put it back together with the pistons upside down.

I have seen it before.

Sorry, forgot to mention that. Yeah, my old mounts were wasted. I thought that would be it too. But the replacement poly ones didn't fix it either.

Good idea on the fan, easy enough to check. I'll do that tonight, thanks. The vibration is at idle and all speeds, so the fan could make sense. If that's it, you're getting a 12 pack in the mail!

Can anyone tell me if they've seen an "out of balance" crank? I can't picture the motor surviving for all this time if that shit was out of balance. Although, I've owned this stang since 2004 and probably put 500 miles on it.

Yep, everything is clear. Re-checked after your post and confirmed, everything looks as it should.

Yes,
I had a motor that had a terrible vibration yet ran good and when I pulled it apart someone had put all the pistons in upside down and they were some cheap off brand cast replacements.

Shit, I don't want that to be it. If that is it, this will be the longest rebuild that anyone has ever seen.

Why do you say that?

Just put another shortblock in it. You can pick one up for 100-500 bucks. No biggie.

I say check into the fan first..

Man, I got three kids and a wife that hates it when I'm in the garage. It's not so much a $ issue and it is a time/wife issue. I guess I could sell the wife for a shortblock? 5'8", 120 lbs, red hed. Some mileage on her, but she's dependable. Le me know.

Oh, and the balancer is correct. The fan will be tested by tomarrow and I'll let you all know the results.
