i was drivin home, and everytime i passed a car id hear a tickin sound. later on realized the higher my rpm the faster, and louder the tick. the ticking i dont think is coming from the engine bay, im thinking its my transmission??
when i rev my engine no ticking, but as soon as im in gear and moving the slightest bit, there goes the tickin again.
theres nothing dragging, nothing even hanging out, but i gotta say the other day i seen what looked like a small oil leak coming off the rim of the tranny. is this related? or just a leak?
I do need to let you guys know that i spun out last friday, after it just started rainin, didnt hit nobody, but my left front tire hit the curb (blew the tire, but dint bend the rim) and my car's underneath seems to have scraped the curb as well. my car drives fine, suspension is good too.. this ticking just started today.
WTF can it be? or what do i check on?

Could be a exhaust header/pipe leak. Check your header bolts or anything loose on the exhaust..

imma check on both of this, but theres one thing about the exhaust leak issue, when im not in gear i dont hear this ticking sound, and theres a smell of something burning after every drive, not oil burning, or coolant, or burnt tires, cant quite describe it.
do you know that old school sound when you put a trading card between the spokes of your bike? thats what it sounds like, but a louder popping sound, the sound goes faster as my rpm rises..
in first its really loud, in second gear it is more continous, but not as loud, and in third you can barely hear it, in 4th, and 5th i dont "THINK" i hear anything at all.
when i first heard this sound.. it wasnt as loud, then today i drove it again, thinking it wasnt that serious, it seems to be getting louder.
if this is just an exhaust issue the timing on this couldnt be any better.. i just got my high flow h pipe, and shorty headers. i will install this weekend, and hopefully it takes care of the problem. I will keep you guys posted.
but for the meanwhile if there are any other ideas for what it COULD be, it would be muchly appreciated.
THANKS AGAIN!!
