but he is only running a stock block302.
i think an performer head or performer rpm head would do fine. or afr165's.. but if moving up to more cubes i would go wth the 185's an not gain alot being a bigger head. Sal has a few good heads up for sale right now. hit him up, he should set u in the right direction.

I run performer RPM heads with E cam and stock short block. Makes good power, more than most believe! Trick flow heads are pretty good also watch for the p/v clearance. B cam + 1.7rr 2.02 valves in trick flow heads + stock short block will be on the tight side.

Quite a bit. The gt-40 heads have 194/150 valves and the performer rpm's have 202/160 Not to mention the runners and port layout. I have never had good luck with the gt40 ford aluminum heads. I have never seen these heads make any real good numbers.

I ported my Bro's GT40Y's and he runs 12.1's @111-112 with a stock 302, E-cam and Systemax intake. They can make power but you have to put work into them, also they have 1.54 EX. valves not 1.50
If you are going to upgrade I would do the Twisted Wedges over the Performers if both heads are untouched. The performer RPM's are not smog legal either, make sure they are just performers.

so should i just pull the heads off and go get them ported? also if i do this i think i might have the heads milled too to gain a bit of compression the heads are 64cc

i agree with them when they said theres no need to upgrade the injectors.....you aint got nothing to significant to be running that much fuel. if you dont have it already get a 190lph fuel pump, and a adjustable fuel pressure regulator for them 24#s. i personally dont know too much about the heads but i would say that the gt40s are cool. they have multiple styles of heads....y's,p's, etc. aluminum is always lighter but some dont like it and would rather cast iron. like i said i dont know too much in that area but i think ur fine. you sound like you got a cool setup..... Its not that they are bad, there is just better stuff out there now that will make you more power. Those heads were designed over 15 years ago. There is better heads available now. Yeah the RPM heads are not smog legal. If thats a problem for you. I would stick with the trick flows, or performers. AFR 165 are a great head for your combo also! I guess it just depends on how much money you want to spend?

I.M.O It would be more simple for you to just sell yours and pick up some Twisted Wedges. You wouldn't have to worry about finding someone to do the port work.

Don't port your heads. Sell them and buy some out of the box edelbrocks, trick flows or afr. Run them for now. They you could have them ported later if you step up your combo. Don't sink any money into the GT-40 heads you have. You won't gain much.
