MY BUDDY TOOK HIS CAR TO THE SHOP BECAUSE IT WAS LAGGING ALOT OF POWER, FIRST OFF HE HAS AN 87 GT W/ AOD. THE SHOP CHANGED ALL THE SENSORS O2, T.P.S,ECT. BUT THEN THEY PUT AN EDELBROCK INTAKE, BBK T.B, AND E-303 CAM ON THE STOCK MOTOR. BEING THAT IT WAS NOT MASS AIR IT RAN LIKE SH!!!T. SO WE DID THE MASS AIR CONV, AND SET THE FIRING ORDER TO H.O AND PUT THE TIMING AT 10 DEGREES.

NOW THE CAR SOUNDS GREAT BUT IT DOES NOT PERFORM THE WAY ITS SUPPOSE TOO. IN A BREAKSTAND IT LOSES POWER AS THE RPM'S GO UP.

WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDS TO HAVE A STALL BECAUSE OF THE CAM? ANY SUGGESTIONS? [Confused] [Confused]

He could need more fuel. Without putting it on a dyno with a wide band O2 connected it would be difficult to tell.

I don't know what shop he took it to but I sure would start looking for another cuz they don't sound competent, why if a car came in with issues would they start adding perf. mods before getting it to run right stock?? That just compounds your problem. Now is the problem your mods or is the original problem the culprit??

know they should of got it running right 1st, but they jus did what he told him too.

but it loses power at approx. 4k rpm's, but it will rev up fine when its in neutral. you can stay in first gear and baby it past 4k but you cant just stomp on it.

the t.p.s could need adjustment, cause they jus put it on im sure without adjusting it.

could there be a problem in the trans? thought fuelfilter but car does not fall on its face, it just loses power slowley.

thanks guys [patriot]

Just had a problem with a clogged fuel filter that would flow fine till around 4000 rpm and then the guage would rise up to 50 & fall back down to below 40psi and then it would bounce around, unfortunatley I only have the guage mounted to the fuel regulator and did'nt realize it till I was on the dyno after I had slowly been loosing MPH at the strip and blew a couple head gasket's [Mad] . The car would still rev to 6500 rev limiter but had slowly lost power over the last year. I have an inline pump and a supercharger so it may have band aided the symptom's as compared to Your buddies ride with no inline and less power than I have. Either way if He has never changed it or it has been a couple year's then it is timne to do it & it's only 20 buck's and takes about 10 minutes to change.

Could be a lot of things.

Are there any engine codes?

What is the fuel pressure set at? If he's not got a gauge and an adjustable regulator I would suggest getting one.

You can also try playing with the timing. Try bumping it up a bit and see what happens.

Did they change the fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, pcv, dist cap, and rotor? If not then I would change all of those.

If the car still doesn't have the power you think it should then try doing a compression test.

fuel pressure was i belive at 38psi, timing at 10, but the rest have been changed.

only thing i can think of is the fuel filter, or the t.p.s needs adjustment.

IS A STALL REQUIRED WHEN PUTTING IN A E-CAM IN AN AOD!!????? [Confused] [Confused]

No You don't NEED a stall. I had one in for year's with stock stall, of course with the E cam it will help You to have a stall because it is sluggish in the low RPM's with the auto. If You are going to do it do it rite the 1st time and go with www.edgeracingconverters.com [patriot] .

Double-check the computer ECM; make sure it is for a Auto application, as a Manual setup will cause it to run lean. Also, just a longshot...but are you sure the transmission isn't slipping?? If you can't do a brakestand with this setup...it's got issues.
