I like the style you're using, Make a plate for the bottom and with the lower control arm attached to the car and supported with a jack put the spring compressor from the outside of the control arm and grabbing the top coil or two(not on top of the spring) compress the spring, then raise your jack and it will hold it long enough for you to attach the strut to the spindle

I also like the style you are using, but if you cant fab up some pieces like thirteen twenty is suggesting, they are a pain to use on a strut style front end.

If you just cant get it to go in without using a spring compressor then go buy the type that bolt on the outside of the spring and try those.

Is there a motor trans in the car? Did you lighten it up?

Only springs I had trouble installing were morosos

yeah turbo I did the morosos, what a bitch, alot of times I can get away without a spring compressor, just pull the strut bolts and tie the strut out of the way, start the spring on the bottom and with a long prybar get the spring to seat in the top then using your jack raise the lower control arm up and bolt on the strut.

yeah that works great thirteen twenty, unless there is no motor/trans and/or your car is really light.

Then it sucks.

lol I know I lifted my whole front end off the stands when doing my morosos, are you running them with a 302???? I can understand them with my 460 block but I wouldn't think a small block would ever be able to compress them. http://a412.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/119/l_5a832d5b5e0da15e1bbf31cadfe9205b.jpg

no I'm asking you. I went with a tube K but not coilover's I was just wondering if you ran a 5.0 eng because it takes a ton of weight to compress the morosos, I have a 460 in mine but wouldn't think a 302 could compress the morosos much. http://a788.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/61/l_07908b4c2de16611048354a82c999143.jpg

I ended up cutting 1.25 coils out of the morosos to get it to sit right with my 302 in it.

I never did get better than a 1.67 60foot with them tho, which is what I got with the stock GT front springs....go figure.

I have went to tubular with coil overs now and a different car.

yea this is the way i did it before i started this topic...

it almost worked but i only could get it halfway on, i never tried a breaker bar or a pry bar though, i should probably try that....

.. and, the kind of compressor i have is a b**** because u have to spind the stud 300 resolutions just to get the spring down

did you get it done yet? I ran into the same problem. it might sound crazy but i had to use hose clamps to compress the spring low enough to fit it in.
