93 cobra
Rebuilt short block (stock), factory intake (GT40), minor head port, cold air, cats w/flows. Stock maf and injectors (24lb). All factory smog is installed. Cleaned EGR. We are running a powermax 2031 cam.
New oxygen sensors, timing at 12 deg.

Gross polluter! HC's are up to 300 at idle. .12 at 2500 rpm.

Maybe my cats aren't lighting up.

Need some input.

Big vaccum leak or your smog pump isn't working...

I'm surprised you passed the visual inspection with 12 degrees of timing. Every smog I have been through requires timing to be set at 10 degrees.

Do you have the stock cat'd h-pipe or an aftermarket one? How old are the cats?

Can you post all the tailpipe readings? It may give us a better idea of what's going on.

I'm not sure, but the tech may have set the timing to 10 before he ran it. I was not there.

I will check all hose connections and replace the smog pump.
I did not have a chance to check all vaccum hoses before it went out for smog. It does have new cats.

I'll try to get a picture of the print out.

rpm.............HC......CO
1000 ..........300......12
2500...........11........0.01

rpm.............CO2............02
1000............15.20.........0.00
2500..........15.10.........0.20

Just went out to the car to look for anything obvious that may have come lose or something. I found that the pcv valve and its hose were not plugged in at the rear of the lower intake.
I may as well drop by Ford and pick up a new pcv valve plus some new hose.
How much would that affect the smog readings?

High HC - fuel mixture too rich - check O2 sensors, smog pump, and cats. Clean MAF element. Do the ethanol thing as suggested.

Thanks JohnB.. There was a huge vaccum leak. I plugged in the pcv/hose where it is supposed to be. All this time it was just hanging there unplugged. I took it for another test and It passed with flying colors. The other Jack-ass at the previous shop just wanted to milk me for some more $$. He should have at least checked the obvious connections at minimum.
Thanks again JB and all else who replied.

Time for a good tune.
