i recently got a king cobra clutch and pressure plate, along with T/O bearing, pilot bearing and resurfaced the flywheel.......now when i punch it in 1st, and try to slam 2nd sometimes either i'll miss the gear or if i get it in, it will grind slightly, also sometimes miss third, but no grind (I THINK)
can this be because i have a aftermarket clutch and need a adjustable cable, firewall, and quadrant???
what is a good or the best brand for a adjustable cable, firewall, and quadrant??
and who can install it for me and how much?
any help would be appreciated......
thanks, will

It could definitely be the adjuster/quadrant combo that came stock on the car.
If it's grinding getting into the cable may need to be tightened up a bit......
I just did one in the Cobra for the new owner and boy did it make a huge difference in realeasing the clutch and allowing a faster shift due to the change in the ramp angle of the quadrant.
I have a DFX 26 spline clutch w/ a ProMotion firewall adjuster/quadrant kit.
That kit did not require to drill into the firewall but rather a sandwich type with 2 pieces (1 that comes from inside the foot compartment and 1 that gets threaded through the engine compartment.
I had to open up the hole in the firewall a bit to get it to fit in the Cobra but it wasn't tooo hard to due just time consuming and a bit tough due to being upside down and in and out of the car soooo many times.
LMK if you need someone to install and can give you the name of a goo buddy of mine
EDIT: you can also try Fiore, Steeda, UPR, etc. [ July 11, 2007, 11:14 AM: Message edited by: TRIXSNK ]

Im encountering the same problem. Carajo believes it to be the steeda cable that came w/my kit since no amount of adjusting has worked.

Wasn't too hard to remove....just gotta cut the springs that hold the crappy stock platic quadrant pieces on.
I was told not pry on the mounting rods causing them to be out of alignment
Also keep a pen-magnet around to save the small clips that hold the quadrant onto the rods.....mine went flying and i couldn't find them anymore
Was able to find some small hitch pin fastners at Lowe's

A stiffer clutch is a lot harder on your clutch cable then the softer stock clutch. You may have stretched your cable or broken one of the teeth off of the pastic quadrant.
Start with installing a new quadrant and firewall adjuster. If that doesn't solve it then it's time for a new cable.
