So I had my stereo stolen and ripped out of my car, the factory harness is still intact but for some reason they cut that thick black wire that plugs into the back of the stereo (Antenna I think). So I am trying to put a new stereo in and as im doing so all I get is power but no volume coming out of the factory door speakers which do not look tampered with. So basically do you need that black wire to plug into the back of the stereo for the radio to function properly?

Nope, only if your listening to the radio, If not check speaker wires and make sure none are frayed/cut.

Do you have rca's?? Or are you running the door speakers off the deck?? Are you using the factory plugs or did you just try to use butt connectors??

check your connectors. Were you running an amp before? if so you have to rewire your system since you have no amp now. sounds like somethings isn't hooked up right.
