Mine is getting completely rewired. I put in a aftermarket dvd player and it "pops" when turned on. I've tried a few different harnesses, and several stereo shops have said I need a re-wire.
I have my factory decks if you need to buy one cheap.

My 96 has an Alpine deck connected to the Mach system and works fine. It was already installed when I got the car but I think its a plug that adapts it to the system. I'll have the deck out in the next couple days and can check to see what they did to make it work.

I Put in a Pioneer Deck in my 97 GT, witht he Mach 460 stereo and amps hooked up to it, i used an integrater harness thing that allowed an after market deck to work with the factory amps.

It allows you to use your aftermarket radio's speaker outputs to signal your stock amps. This way you can continue using your stock amps and speakers.
Otherwise you would have to run new wire from your new deck's speaker outputs directly to your speakers.
notice in the pic that there are two harnesses. The gray one contains your power connections (12v, ground, illumination, etc) The black one is for your speaker outputs and this one connects to the harness that goes to your stock amps.
Hope that made sense and helped... [ March 09, 2007, 04:08 AM: Message edited by: RioredGT ]

I think it's actually eight. But don't worry about that. Each tweeter and 6x8 speaker really act as one speaker.
