This is a project that I would like to do soon, does anybody have good pointers to help me out? Is it difficult? Is it a 2 person job? Please elaborate.

I would take it to the shop. you need special tools, and shimms. even the tiniest bit off and the life of the rear end drops. Also you could chip the teeth when you hit the gas hard.
