Make sure you clean the area of all the oil really good before you attempt to put the new seal in. I use 3m weatherstrip adhesive (yellow glue) to glue them in, and also lube the inside of the seal with oil before you install it. Are there any knicks or burrs on the cranks that could be cutting up the seal?

first check to see of there are any grooves in teh crank. If there are, you will need a sleeve.
The Fing RMS is the biggest headache I have ever dealt with (sn95 booster is up there too, lol).
It leaked like a mofo in my 87GT. I changed it twice, and it still leaked.
It leaks in my 93, and I am not even going after it until it either gets unbearable or I do a clutch.
I am 0/4 overall with RM seals, and 0/2 with attempting to replace RM seals, lol

How many miles are on the shortblock? More than likely, ALOT. You need a crank seal saver. The seal doesn't appear to be the problem. It looks like the crank surface is the problem.

Yes, thats the correct way. Lube it up good before you install it.
And why is the last bolt on the right (pan rail) loose????
