it's actually not that hard, if you have any mechanical abilities whatsoever, give it shot. save a lot of cash

Useds are much cheaper.. I rebuilt my T5. Ended up costing me 700 dollars or so (that was after I realized I need a couple of new gears though...) but when I was done it was basicly a brand new transmission. In retrospect I would have just bought a used one. Ended up trading my rebuilt for a used fuct tranny.. so I basicly got screwed out of 700 bux
err enough about me - I get caught up in that subject, kinda sore over it. But yeah, just get a used one. Rebuild kit will end up costing 200 dollars or so and then someones time is worth at LEAST 100 dollars to rebuild it, probably much more. Thats assuming you dont need any additional parts and just need standard things like bearings.

Talk to Bruce at www.moderdriveline.com He's in San Jose. The man knows what he is doing and does great timely work. You should expect to pay somewhere in the area of $600 to $700.
