I've been having drivability issues over the last few weeks and I'm trying to do some over-the-internet troubleshooting while I wait for codes to be pulled.

The symptoms are as follows:
_Upon start up the idle will surge/sometimes motor will die on it's own after major idle surging.
-Major loss of power through out the entire rpm range especially from idle-2500 rpms.
-Loud whistle/winding noise coming from passanger side of motor when under WOT (I'm thinking bad EGR vacuum control valve).
-When driving under normal conditions the engine temp is fine. When I wind it out to 6500 rpms for a gear or two the temp rises to about 3/4 or more on the gauge, then drops back down after a few seconds.

Now the engine noise and the fluctuating temp gauge is what has me scratching my a$$ in confusion. Any ideas guys?

**VERY IMPORTANT**
I'm also about 85% certain that I have a bad cat converter too. About 6 months ago I could hear the baffle come loose in one of the cats but not a major loss of power at the time. Could be that it has progressively gotten worse??? This will be replaced in the next week or two but I'm about to park the Stang until I find out what's going on here. Thanks in advance for any help guys.

Oh and as far as mods - stock bottom end, GT-40P heads, Cobra intake, E cam, 19 lbers, stock mass air, mac headers, stock H pipe. I know it's hard to troubleshoot over the net but I'm giving it a shot. Thanks again all. [patriot]
