I'm goin' to pick-n-pull tomorrow, getting a rear end from a Tbird (same as mustangs, xcept the axles are the right length). Are there any special tools to remove it? the car is supported by the typical wheels welded together and used as jack stands, so the rear end is lowered already. I was told that I don't need to compress the springs at all, since they're already stretched out. is there a special way to get it out? I'd like it to go as smoothly as possible, I'm doing it early in the morning before goign to class any help is appreciated. thanks ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

the cars are usually balanced with rims sitting under the pumkin in my experience, be fucken careful re-jacking the car, I tried taking a wheel off and the whole car moved almost 3 feet.

nah this one doesn't have anything under the rear (hopefully this one is still there, I was planning on going sunday but I don't want to chance someone else grabbing it) I've scoped the place out recently.

Don't forget a tire iron.
and also a 12point 12 millimeter for the driveshaft.
Here is a tip keep the wheels on it and just push it on the wheels till you pay a lot easier than dragging etc.

they don't have wheels on it, but I could probably find some. thanks, that does make a lot of sense I was thinking of getting a wheelbarrow and trying to lift the thing onto it (w/ help of course)
and I know about the 12pt, I needed to get one to get my old driveshaft off when I replaced my tranny. it was a bitch to get em off, they were nice n rusty. I guess a nice big can of wd-40 would be necessary, huh
are any of the other bolts a weird size? what would be the easiest way to remove it from the car? isn't it just held by the control arms+quad shocks+shocks? [ March 10, 2005, 11:56 PM: Message edited by: zpyro35 ]

the easiest way to get the rear end out, is cutting it out
18v cordless dewalt sawzall and it will be out in no time
i pulled a rear once and brought a small oxy/actl torch and cut it out, but that just me
but if your going to unbolt it, make sure to bring a long skinny chisel, so when the bolts are ready to come out, you can just beat them out, why be nice when you dont need them

well after about 4 hours, here it is ![-](http://img232.exs.cx/img232/6522/dsc005721fu.th.jpg) ![-](http://img103.exs.cx/img103/5778/dsc005730fc.th.jpg) ![-](http://img103.exs.cx/img103/7103/dsc005744xr.th.jpg) somebody took the calipers, I'll have to go back sometime and get them. also, I couldn't figure out how to get the e-brake lines, and I was dead tired and sunburned so I'll get those some other time as well total cost for everything: $55+$30 core charge. they didn't charge me extra for the quad shocks, brake pads, or even the spare tires I put on it ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

looks good, i was there this morning also in my yellow 510 wagon i actually crawled underneath that turbo coupe you got that out of and drooled over it for awhile then relized i didnt want to try to put it in the back of my wagon
i made out pretty good though got some nice 510 parts and scored on a very nice suspension setup off a 280z with swaybars, tokicko illumina's 5way adj, aftermarket 4piston caliper brake setup with steel braided lines and everything, very nice stuff. had people pissing and moaning because we got to it before they did. lol

if you had taken that rear end and I found out about it, I would've found out where you live and hunt you down there weren't any other TCs with disc brakes left (I couldn't get calipers cuz there weren't any others )
after I got the rear unbolted and out from under the car, some mexican guy came by and obviously wanted it. he stood by for a few, asked how much I was going to pay for it. I was waiting for him to offer to buy it off of me, and I would've told him hell no. I didn't spend 3 hours wrenching and getting dirty and greasy and sweaty and sunburned for nothin.

not mine, but a pic of the ones I'm getting. $220 for the set of both uppers and lowers+bushings :w00t: to go along with my rear end I pulled yesterday
edit:actually, the lowers I got aren't adjustable, so imagine non-adjustable ones ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
