Has anyone ever done this???

http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=574113&highlight=alternator+crank+tensioner+water+pump

Did you have a problem with the belt rubbing between the tensioner and the water pump.

I just finished doing it and haven't started the car up because of the time. It looks really close though. I'm using a 44.5" belt.

Thanks

your link doesn't work but here's how I did mine:

I used a march alternator bracket / tensioning rod and nothing can possibly rub [Smile]

I fixed the link...thanks for the heads up and picture.

What pullies are being used in your pic? I see a smog eliminator pulley I think, the alt and water pump.

All I have on there right now is the alt, idler, crank and water pump pullies.

oh you're trying to do it the band-aide way.

what I did and am using is:

-reverse rotation waterpump (off a `80's crown vic 351, I had to use my die grinder to enlarge the holes in my waterpump pulley to bolt on)
-march underdrive pulley's on crank and waterpump
-3g alternator, stock pulley
-foxbody smog pump, stock pulley

without the smog pump I think I could run a 30" belt, in that pic I am running a 44.5"

**the reason for me running the funky waterpump is to be able to run my belt over the top of the waterpump as opposed to underneath it, the way your link shows to run the belt I feel will cause the belt to slip on the waterpump pulley and cause the car to overheat, so I chose to do it the best possible way I could come up with and thats with the waterpump swap and tensioning rod.

yeah I have to take it on a nice long drive tomorrow to see if there is any slippage or overheating going on.

Thanks
