i have an 87 gt.it back fires like crazey just recently started happening.it only does it if i'm winding down the rpm's i.e. coming up to a light and down shifting,or if say i get on it and then let off with out pushing in the clutch.it sounds like a shot gun blast and it scares the shit out of everybody around me.just wondering what it could be.obviously i'm not mechanically inclined.any help would be appreciated.

Since you don't sound like you will be able to fix the problem if we made any suggestions as to what the problem could be, why don't you take it to a mechanic?
